Winter Workshops at Northern Nevada Ballet Academy offer three magical days of training, creativity, and celebration for dancers of all levels. Each day blends high-quality ballet technique with exciting secondary styles, cross-training, and seasonal activities that bring the world of The Nutcracker to life.

 

Dancers begin with focused technique classes that strengthen posture, flow, musical phrasing, and extension. Each morning also features Nutcracker variations, allowing students to explore choreography from Snow Scene, Land of Sweets, and Waltz of the Flowers. Cross-training sessions throughout the week support growth in balance, stamina, flexibility, and core strength through floor barre, conditioning, and restorative yoga.

 

Alongside ballet, students enjoy a range of secondary dance styles. Guest teachers and NNBA faculty guide dancers through improvisation exercises, expressive movement, and new choreography in a supportive, encouraging environment.

 

Each day also includes special seasonal activities that make the Winter Workshop unforgettable. From festive crafts to film sessions, cookie decorating, cozy pajama morning stretches, Foot Spa Day, and the beloved Secret Snowflake Gift Exchange, dancers experience a joyful blend of learning and holiday magic.

 

Whether exploring the elegance of Snowflakes, the sweetness of Spanish and Marzipan, or the beauty of Dew Drop and Flowers, dancers leave inspired, confident, and full of winter spirit.
